Australian $1 Coins

2001 Anniversaries of the Australian Defence Forces

In 2001 we witnessed important anniversaries of all Australian defence forces. The Australian Army celebrates its centenary, the Royal Australian Navy commemorates 90 years of operation, and the Royal Australian Air Force marks 80 years of service.
These milestone events were timely opportunities to pay tribute to all those servicemen and women who have served over the years, and still serve, in our defence forces. This Salute embraces every member of our past and present forces who has contributed to the interest and safety of our nation.
The $1 Army ‘C’ mintmark, $1 RAN and $1 RAAF coins are presented in special packaging which can be displayed, and an attractive outer sleeve protects it when the coin set is stored.
Each Uncirculated aluminium bronze coin represents in fine detail the badge or insignia of the relevant force. The Rising Sun for the Army, St Edward's Crown above an anchor for the Navy and St Edward’s Crown above an eagle for the Air Force.
