The entire spectacle organized that day was to serve to show the German people firsthand the reconciliation between the old Prussian Christian-nationalist tradition and the new National Socialism.
In the presence of members of the Reichstag, the highest officials of the state and the Reichswehr, generals and field marshals of the Kaiser's army, the aged Hindenburg read a declaration in which he confirmed that Hitler enjoyed his full confidence.
Hitler answered him with a speech, and after that both went down to the tomb of King Frederick II, the idol of the Prussian military,
the remains of which rested in the church.
