Since October 1999, the Ministry of Finance has been selling gold coins held by the government at auction. The authenticity has been verified by the Japanese Coin Dealer Cooperative Association, and the state of preservation is marked and sealed in a special case. These cased gold coins are classified as ``Treasury Released Gold Coins'' and are distinguished from gold coins on the market in this catalog.
