   The collectible gold coin of Austria from the series "Famous Doctors of Austria" was issued on January 30, 2008 and is dedicated to the famous Hungarian obstetrician, professor Ignaz Philip Zemmelweis. Minted in the Austrian mint with a circulation of 50,000 units.

   On the obverse of the golden coin of Austria is a portrait of Ignaz Philip Zemmelweis, to the right of which is the denomination of the 50 EURO coin, the year of issue of 2008, and the staff of Asclepius is also located. On top is the name of the doctor "IGNAZ PHILIPP SEMMELWEIS" and on the left in two lines are the years of his life "1818 1865." In the lower part is the name of the state "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH."

   The reverse depicts the old hospital in Vienna from a bird's eye view, where Zemmelweis worked in the maternity ward and correctly diagnosed the cause of maternity fever, after which he introduced mandatory disinfection of hands and tools among the staff. This is the illustration on the right side of the reverse, in which two doctors disinfect their hands with a solution of chlorine lime.
