On    January 1, 2002, the Austrian Mint began issuing a collection gold coin with a face value of 10 euro from the Vienna Philharmonic series, which replaced the previously issued coin with a face value of 200 Austrian shillings. The coin is made of gold of the highest sample and has a weight of 1/10 ounce.

   The obverse of the coin depicts an organ installed in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Philharmonic. At the top of the coin in a semicircle is the name of the country "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH" and under the image of the organ is the weight of the coin "1/10 UNZE" a sample of the metal "GOLD 999.9" and the year of minting. Below is the face value of the 10 EURO coin.

   The reverse of the Austrian "philharmonicer" of 10 euro depicts musical instruments used by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra: four violins, cello, horn, bassoon and harp. At the top of the reverse is the inscription "WIENER PHILHARMONIKER."
