The coin is made of gold of the highest sample and has a weight of 1/2 ounce.

The obverse of the coin depicts an organ installed in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Philharmonic. In the upper part, the inscription "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH" is placed in a semicircle, and in the lower part the weight of the coin "1/2 UNZE" the metal sample "GOLD 999.9" and the year of issue of the coin, as well as the denomination "50 EURO" are indicated.

The reverse of the Austrian "philharmonicer" of 50 euro depicts musical instruments used by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra: four violins, cello, horn, bassoon and harp. Above the image is the inscription "WIENER PHILHARMONIKER."
