The anniversary coin 2 euro of Monaco is timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the founding of Monte Carlo by Charles III in 1866. It was released in June 2016 with a circulation of 15,000 coins. Minting was carried out in the French mint.
The obverse of the commemorative coin 2 euro depicts Prince of Monaco Charles III against the background of Monte Carlo. At the bottom of the coin is the inscription "CHARLES III FONDE MONTE-CARLO" ("CHARLES III FOUNDED MONTE CARLO") and the years "1866" and "2016" are indicated. Above the image is the name of the principality "MONACO" on the left side of which is the sign of the French mint, and on the right - the sign of the master of the mint. 12 stars of the European Union are placed around the circle.
