The euro was entered into cash circulation in San Marino on 1 January 2002. Each San Marino euro coin has a unique design. So on coins with a face value of 1 euro cent the Montale Tower is depicted, on 2 Eurocents - the Statue of Liberty, located on Freedom Square in San Marino, and on coins of 5 Eurocents - the Guaita Tower. Euro coins in denominations of 10, 20 and 50 euro cents depict the Church of St. Marino, the image of St. Marino and three towers on Mount Titano, respectively. On a coin with a face value of 1 euro is the coat of arms of the state, and on 2 euro - the San Marino State Palace.
Since 2004, San Marino has issued 22 anniversary coins of 2 euro. Collectible gold and silver coins with a face value of 5 to 50 euro are also issued.
