Spanish euro coins of the second series are similar in design to coins of the first series, with the exception that on the outer ring there is no allocation of some stars of the European Union, which was on coins of the previous type. On the obverse of the 2 Euro cent coin is the Cathedral of St. James in the city of Santiago de Compostella, to the left of which there is the inscription "España" and to the right is the sign of the mint. The year of coinage is indicated on top.
